We’ve had the absolute please of speaking with Frenchie from
Brick Squad Monopoly (BSM), which is also associated with hip hop artist Waka
Flocka.
Frenchie is in a genre that’s considered hip hop and gangsta
rap. He’s passion from music extends throughout his entire family he said, “ My
whole family is involved with music from my Aunt Debra being Gucci mane and
Waka Flocka’s manager to my uncle DJ Hurricane who was the Beastie Boys DJ.”
When I asked him what moment in his life did he decide that
he wanting to start rapping he told use the moment he realized he wanted to rap
he was watching a Kriss Kross music video. I guess they made him JUMP, JUMP.
Frenchie got his name from his father who was a big street
legend in the early 90’s on the streets of Queens, NY. Frenchie has gone above
and beyond making his parents proud that for sure!
I asked him if he mostly writes his music or if it comes
naturally and he can just go in the both and record he said, “Both it all
depends on how I’m feeling in that moment or during the day.”
It may come as a surprise, but Frenchie doesn’t just listen
to hip hop music. He listens to everything! In fact one of his favorite groups
is One Republic, which, is a rock band that was formed in 2002 in Colorado
Springs, Colorado. If would be awesome if we had another Hip hop and rock
collaboration, but then again that’s just a thought!
When not working on music you can find Frenchie playing
basketball, trash talking the boys while playing PS3 and hanging out with his
kids. When he’s having an off day you can find him listening to his own track
entitled ‘Doubt Me’ and he was last caught
listening to Trick Daddy ‘Thug Holiday”.
I asked him to describe his perfect performance he said,
“One where I take my shirt off, pour water on my dreads while shaking it and
got the whole crowd going crazy as if we’re in a mosh pit.
I wanted to know his most EMBARASSING thing that’s happened
to him. He likes to jump around like a mosh pit so I knew there had to be
something he told us, “ One day I was performing and my shorts fell down. I
don’t know how it happened, but it did.
I was like oh sh*t but then I said fu*k it and left it off and just kept
performing like nothing happened and everyone in the crowd ended up thinking I
did it on purpose.”
He’s currently working on Concrete Jungle 2 and he wants
fans know that, “ I want the fans to know that Yeah do can do you. Make music
which makes you happy and makes you feel good about yourself or the
situation.” All of Frenchie’s projects
have come at difference phases in his life and I believe that through each
phase he can only get better. “Shout out
to my family, friends and most importantly my fans.”
